With the pandemic, or just tired after a long day of hiking or wine tasting, many of our guests choose to get take-out food to eat in our dining room, the deck, the patio, or in their room. Of course, we make that as nice as possible, with plates, cutlery, and beer or wine available! The following list is not complete, but includes our recommendations for restaurants particularly focused on take out. In addition, during the pandemic, many normally sit-down restaurants have started packaging for take out as well–we’ll cover them another time.

Chinese: Dragon’s Chinese Grill. Couldn’t be closer, only 5 minutes from Cider House.

Deli: E & J’s Deli Pub. Also close, and serves wings, burgers, and salad, etc. as well as sandwiches.

Barbecue: The Fishin’ Pig: A local hangout with a great selection of barbecue (brisket, pork, chicken, sausage) and other southern grub, including catfish.

Mexican: Waynesboro has at least four Mexican restaurants, but we vote for El Puerto, on W. Main, as the place we go.

Pizza: Also many choices, including the major chains, like Domino’s, Papa Johns, and Little Caesars. Here, we have to recommend two options: New York Flying Pizza for good traditional pizza, and Benny Stivale’s for their amazing 28″ pizzas. They are even bigger than you think. Get it by the huge slice unless there are four of you.

Italian: Scotto’s has fresh, traditional Italian food, including pizza (which I confess I’ve never had, as I always get their lasagna or chicken parm).

Japanese: Looking for sushi? Try Sakura for a full Japanese menu.

Plus Waynesboro has all the fast-food restaurants: KFC, Burger King, McDonalds, Five Guys, Arby’s Wendy’s, Cook Out, Hardee’s, Chick-fil-A, Sonic Drive-In, Taco Bell, and Subway.
